Roses are red, violets are blue, my heart’s about to explode, because we’re having dinner above Sheikh Zayed Road

The Shangri-La Dubai has opened up its 42nd floor – usually home to its executive members lounge – for a private dinner overlooking one of the greatest views in the city.

The terrace on level 42 is now open for dinner, drinks and a live harp jam session*, along with views of the Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai. Guests can expect a five-course dinner, more roses than you can shake a thorny stick at, as well as a romantic soundtrack straight out of The Notebook.

It’s being touted as the perfect place to pop the question, celebrate an anniversary or – just because it’s that time of the year – impress that special someone this Valentine’s Day.

A private dining experience such as this doesn’t come cheap (Dhs4,500 per couple, with a bottle of bubbles and free-flowing beverages) but love is not measured by the dirham.

It’s measured by the number of likes your Instagram picture gets from the top of the Shangri-La Dubai.

*Note: not a figure of speech, level 42 comes with its very own private harpist
