Good things come in twos (and that goes double for the couple’s treatment) at the Westin Dubai’s heavenly spa

One of the best things about being a man today is that any stigma about going to spas has long since been rubbed away like a niggly shoulder knot.

Like the Romans before us we have embraced entering hot, dark rooms to be massaged, scrubbed – hell, even given a facial – by strangers with magic hands as the perfect way to unwind. Of course, there’s no better way to score yourself a massage and gain some brownie points at the same time than via a couple’s treatment. And the aptly-named ‘Heavenly’ Spa at Dubai’s Westin offers a good one of those.

Dubbed the ‘heavenly escape for two’, the couple’s treatment is meant to rejuvenate and revitalize. It’s a mixture of full-body scrub, followed by a 60-minute massage and then access to the men and women’s facilities (steam room, Jacuzzi and theme showers).

As expected, the treatment ticks both the rest and relaxation boxes. After settling into the massage beds (you also have the option of separate rooms), both therapists (men on men, women for women, etc.) get to scrubbing.

After a quick shower, the proper massage begins. While it’s supposed to relax you, guests get to choose precisely what pressure they require and can ask the masseuses to concentrate on certain parts of the body.

Following the treatment, each couple is invited to use the wet facilities, which features Jacuzzi, steam room, and shower facilities. The showers are particularly good fun, as they come with themed buttons. Hit the ‘Amazon Rainforest’ button, for example, and you’ll be hit with sounds from the forest, green flashing LEDs and raindrop showers.

Dhs1,780 per couple for two hours 20 minutes, included unlimited use of the separate men’s and women’s wet facilities. The Westin Dubai (04 511 7901)
