That’s right, the city famous for its Internet City, Media City, and Sports City is set to have a Desert Rose City built. Horticulturists of the Emirate will likely be throwing up their pruning shears in the air to celebrate this fantastic news. But unfortunately for them: the Desert Rose City is not made out of actual roses. What it is however is an environmentally renewable city merely shaped into the form of a rose. Nevertheless, the eco-friendly city still looks rather fantastic.
Featuring schools, malls, mosques, a police station, designated housing for Emiratis, and dedicated hospital clinics, the plan is for this city to rely on its own very resources to save energy whilst still accommodating for its estimated 160,000 residents. Around 75% of the city will be residential as a huge mass of solar panels placed on the roofs of homes and other buildings will generate clean electricity and renewable energy throughout.
Constructed in agreement with the UAE’s green growth principles, the project will hope to lessen carbon emission from Dubai whilst also promoting eco-friendly transportation.
Although a location for the city has not yet been confirmed, it is expected to be situated somewhere across the Emirates road towards the desert. A green belt is also intended for agricultural purposes, so perhaps it might be time to pick back up those pruning shears.
