Apart from a surefire way to flog souvenirs to kids, we’re not sure why mascots are such an integral part of sporting events, but they are. If we overlook the fact that on matchdays they are essentially just regular guys dressed up in over-large costumes flouncing about and waving at people, when we think back to our our childhoods and Euros past, it turns out they leave lasting impressions.
