Mustafa Adnan Al Hashmi
The Showman –
Complimenting his day job in finance, Al Hashmi took to social media as a creative outlet. Noticing that there was a gap in the market for positive, young Emiratis in front of the camera, he has made himself the go-to face in modelling, acting and advertising campaigns who want to portray a positive image of a hungry new generation of Arabs.
How important is Social Media in your life?
Honestly, I don’t see social media as being that important. Sure, it has helped create a lot of positive noise for me, but I don’t let it control my life. The one thing I have learnt though, is that the more followers you have, the more consistent you need to be with your message.
And what message is that?
I want to show a positive image of authentic UAE culture and art forms.
Who influences you?
I am influenced by the late Sheikh Zayed in his consistent actions of sowing the seeds of goodness in people that yield humanitarian legacy world wide. In terms of fashion I really respect Tom Ford. He is a designer, he is a director, he is an actor — he is just so creative in many different ways. Also, his style is good, so that never hurts!
What do you hope to achieve with your level of influence?
I’m not sure how long social media will last in its current form before becoming oversaturated. But I try to have a consistent message and story to tell. It has given me a lot of opportunities and introduced me to a lot of friends that I never had before, I think that is a very positive side of it.
