Max of Arabia
The Cultural Ambassador – A true third-culture-kid, the American-Englishman’s upbringing saw him live in several different countries

Max Stanton claims his social media success was a complete accident. A true third-culture-kid, the American-Englishman’s upbringing saw him live in several different countries, and learn to speak fluent Arabic. Confused why he was in a minority of westerners to bother learning the language, he started creating videos documenting his experiences in the Gulf exclusively in Arabic.
How important is social media to you?
It is not everything to me, but it is very important. My business is dependent on it, but I also like it as a way to meet people and to learn more about the world.
What do you want to achieve with the position of influence you have created?
I want to stop being seen as one of the few expats that speak Arabic. It is such a beautiful language and learning it helps us understand so much more about the region. I want to show, and highlight, all of the beauty that we have in the region, and I want to show that underneath the language everybody is the same.
What influences you?
I am influenced by many things. My upbringing and the places I’ve lived in are very important to me. I love the Middle East. I love the language, I love the culture.
