-Influencers of the Gulf - Alex Hirschi (aka SuperCarBlondie)
Having left her talk radio show on Dubai Eye, Hirschi became a social-media sensation after focusing on producing content about cars. Her unique approach has proven very successful in a part of the world that loves its powerful motors.
What do you think makes you stand out?
I’m a woman in a man’s world. It has been challenging, but I think it means that I offer something different. I think the car world is quite insular and I want to try open it up so that everyone can appreciate cars in their own way.
Who influences you?
The people who choose to vlog on a daily basis. It may seem super easy, but in reality these people have given up all of their personal life in order to give the audience new content. From the moment they wake up they are thinking about their need to deliver content.
Why does Facebook work best for you?
I like to produce short, snappy content and Facebook and Instagram allow for that. It’s attention-grabbing, and reaches a wider audience because of the ‘share’ function. Everyone will find two minutes a day to check their Facebook, but they may not have 10 minutes to check YouTube.
What’s next for you?
I am going to be an official ‘friend of the brand’ for Tag Heuer, and a global ambassador for Power Horse energy drink. Towards the end of the year, I’ll be launching an e-commerce side to my business.
