The Star Wars star joins Poppy Delevingne and Karen Elson

John Boyega has become the first men’s ambassador for luxury fragrance brand Jo Malone.

The London-based star is best known for his starring role in the new Star Wars flicks, as well as his breakthrough roles in Attack the Block and Detrioit.

His official title will be, ‘The Jo Malone London Gent’. His role, according to a statement, is to ‘celebrate Britishness storytelling and fragrance’.

“I love the creativity and storytelling element of Jo Malone, London. It’s something I resonate with; it’s how I work best. With discussion, collaboration and down to earth honesty,” said Boyega, talking about the partnership.

The notion of bringing a men’s ambassador to the table makes a lot of sense (scents?) for the London perfume brand.

While it’s other ambassadors are women – Poppy Delevingne and Karen Elson – all its products are designed to be unisex.

According to Boyega, it’s the ‘bronze wood and leather cologne’ that is his favourite.

“I like that I can change up my scent to suit my style … If my life were a bottle of cologne, it would be called: Conflicts and Success. A new Boyega line.”

According to Jo Malone London global president, Jean-Guillaume Trottier, the star’s affinity for London was at the heart of why he was chosen.

“A born and bred Londoner, John is intelligent, inclusive and witty. He shares our core values of generosity and creativity and is unafraid to speak his mind. His vivacity and whole-heartedness make him a wonderful fit with Jo Malone London, and I am delighted to welcome him to the family.”
