And as the world changes, for better or for worse, Dyson is applying some of those same ideas where we need them most.
Take air purification, for example. While most of us seem to have a few air purifiers in our home, it’s hard not to look out the window on a bad day, take a long-haul flight through a crowded airport, or walk through a congested and polluted international city and not wish there was a way to bring that same technology with us everywhere we go.

Now we can, and more. With the Dyson Zone, the brand has oh-so-cleverly tackled two issues in one device—the constant cacophony of modern urban life, and the ever-worsening effects of bad air quality. They’re air-purifying headphones—the first of their kind—and it’s hard not to marvel at what they’ve created; completely unique, elegantly designed, and eye-catching in a way few wearable pieces manage to be in an age of increasing avant garde. It’s a fashion statement by way of self-care.
Even just as headphones, they’re unlike anything that’s ever hit the market. Those aforementioned engineers and scientists have re-conceptualized noise cancelling, providing rich, immersive high-fidelity audio sound that is designed to minimize distortion, with dual microphone beamforming technology that enhances voice clarity by suppressing noise from surrounding areas. The long-lasting battery also means that it can offer up to 50 hours of audio with active noise cancellation. Put simply, your listening proclivities will sound beautiful, with almost zero outside interference, all with superlative durability and comfort.
Inside each ear cup is more than just audio technology. Integrated compressors pull air through dual-layer filters and project two streams of purified air into the wearer’s nose and mouth via a detachable, non-contact visor. All of this is controlled through the MyDyson app, with censors in the device constantly monitoring air quality and environmental noise levels that you can check on your phone, so you can decide when to strap on the visor. It’s available in two colour schemes at launch in the UAE: Prussian blue/bright copper and Ultra Blue/Prussian blue.
Let the other brands try to convince everyone else that VR headsets and Web 3.0 are a thing we all need. Here, instead, is a device that’s truly transformative.
