We already know that the trio of 2019 iPhones being unveiled soon will have changes like the triple camera lenses for the back camera, and a few new funky colours, but it seems like it may be worth holding out till 2020 for an upgrade.
According to MacRumours, Apple will be bringing back Touch ID for the 2020 flagships, upgrading it to be able to have fingerprint technology on the entire screen rather than on one small area like the Google or Samsung phones of today.
This means you’ll be able to unlock your 2020 iPhone by placing your finger anywhere on the screen.
Since December, Apple has filed for around five Touch ID patents, patents that point towards the new phones making a 3D model of your fingerprint information rather than just scanning it. This lines up with the plan of Apple to turn iPhones into a biometrically secured e-Passport. Now that’s high tech.
The leak also pointed out that 2020 iPhones will have 5G support, along with a 3D sensing rear camera that can improve AR experiences. This is tech that we thought we’d see this year in the 2019 models.
Finally, the leak talked about how Apple is planning to transition all of its iPhones to an OLED display next year, this comes as a rumour about LG becoming a secondary supplier of OLED displays for the 2019 phones has surfaced.
