While swiping, ghosting, and breadcrumbing might not be culturally common place with GCC residents, that should have little affect for users of Maxion – a new Dubai-based dating app that promises a “no swipe” approach to dating.

Designed by (and named after) the UAE’s self-proclaimed “#1 matchmaker” Christiana Maxion, MAXION: The Matchmaking Concierge is an A.I. driven algorithmic app created to connect like-minded, “elite singles” in Dubai.

According to the App, Maxion’s matchmaking resume to date is quite impressive, having worked with over 40,000 individuals worldwide to a 96% success rate.

Amid the multiple matchmaking apps out there already, the fundamental difference between Maxion and those apps is in its concierge service. This feature was designed specifically with Maxion’s busy, elite target demographic in mind. Here’s how it works: the algorithm sends you weekly profiles of potentially compatible singles for you to review. Then, the digital concierge will plan, book, and confirm all of your in-person meets. The catch? There is NO in-app, user to user messaging feature.

Ultimately Maxion is positioning itself as the anti-dating app dating app. With its lack of a texting feature, Maxion encourages in-person meet ups over lunch or dinner to get to know your match. Some more of its quirky and unique features include ‘values’ based matchmaking options, a 15-second audio ‘connection’ pitch (an elevator pitch on a dating app!), matching with users whose ‘meet vibes’ suit yours, and profile photos that are deliberately kept black and white.

The subscription-based platform (AED550 per month) also offers larger meet-up opportunities for the Maxion community, with invites to members-only Maxion events.
