Follow these guidelines to shut down the most annoying people in your comments

Trolls are fascinating people, their sole purpose is to harass or bully you into doing or reacting to something they want for no logical reason. Streaming consistent quality content and building a strong following is enough pressure to handle without trolls trying to cause problems in your streams, so here’s a few ways you can effectively deal with trolls.

However, enough of living in fantasy land. Kaitality, a popular Twitch Affiliate streamer, shared the ways that he rids himself of trolls so that he can game in peace while they ruin someone else’s day.

1. Take the time to select reliable mods to help clean up negativity in the chat. It’s too much work to do it alone.

2. Then create and display popup rules for all viewers to see so that your mods can enforce these rules if they have to.

3. Think of all the foul language you’d expect a troll to use and then set your Nightbot or one of your other bots to blacklist these words so that the bot can ban trolls who come into your channel using these phrases.

4. Sometimes a troll just needs a timeout so that you can explain the rules of the stream or at least show him/her that you’re not going to tolerate negative behavior.

5. If you’ve got a few comebacks at the ready then feel free to troll the troll. It’s the ultimate curveball and you can silence them really quick if you get the rest of stream behind you

6. If all of the above fails them block them. That’s a sure fire way to remove the toxicity for good.

At then of the day, remember that trolls are just desperate for attention and it’s easier to get negative attention than positive attention. As long as you follow the steps above and don’t show signs of frustration, then the troll will release they can’t win and just leave.

Happy streaming!
