Introducing Apple Music 1, Apple Music Hits, and Apple Music Country
Apple has re-branded its radio stations today to Apple Music Radio, and added in new radio stations including one for country music and pop hits.
Its popular Beats 1 station will now be known as Apple Music 1, while Apple Music Hits and Apple Music country have also just gone online.
It’s a smart move for Apple, which can now position itself as a music curator and tastemaker – and better compete with the likes of Pandora and Spotify.

Apple Music Country will (predictably) focus on country music. It will include on-air hosts and shows from the likes of Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood.
Apple Music Hits will focus on mainstream music, and include exclusive artist-oriented shows from the likes of the Backstreet Boys, Ciara, Shania Twain and Snoop Dog.
Apple Music subscribers can access the stations via their app, by clicking on the radio button at the bottom. Both are also available via Siri voice command.
The new stations come months after Apple launched beta versions of its music service via the web. It uses the same interface as Apple’s regular music app, but this time you can access it from any device (including Windows or Android).
Apple has also converted some of Apple Music 1’s host Zane Lowe’s interviews into podcasts, letting people enjoy them outside of listening live.
It’s natural to expect that Apple will continue this strategy moving forward – with more genre specific stations, as well as those featuring music from other countries around the world.
