The new phone has the looks of an iPhone 8, but the same tech as Apple‘s more modern phones – and all at a wallet-friendly price.
The new iPhone SE will be Apple’s most affordable, which seems all of a sudden very appealing given the current economic realities of coronavirus.
The updated iPhone SE will cost US$399 (which is less than half of its top-specced iPhone Pro) and will be available via online delivery starting tomorrow.
Apple announced written statement, forgoing its usual star-studded media briefings or online presentation.
The new iPhone rocks a 4.7-inch screen (bigger than the last iPhone SE, but smaller than most new models these days) but rocks updated graphics. It also rocks a fingerprint sensor instead of facial recognition.
While the new phone looks similar to Apple’s iPhone 8, it actually packs the same A13 bionic processor as Apple’s new phones. That means it should be technically faster than the iPhone XR and most Android phones.
The camera is no slouch, either. It’s 12-megapixels and comes with Portrait mode and the ability to record in 4K. It even has wireless charging, too.
There is no doubt the new phone has been in development for quite a while, so its arrival during a global pandemic seems very apt.
The first iPhone SE proved a hit, as it allowed users access into Apple’s infrastructure of apps and services minus the usually high price of Apple products. And while the new iPhone SE doesn’t have the processor power nor the camera capabilities as its flagship forebears, it still looks like a pretty solid blower.
