Remote working is the new norm (but that doesn’t make it any less lonely)

Quarantine measures are in place all over the world; a fact that has made remote working business ‘unusual’.

It’s the new norm, but many people around the world are having trouble acclimatizing to working from their living room (let’s be honest, Zoom is no substitute to water cooler goss).

Now, a corporate culture consultancy has come up with a new idea that will allow you to re-create your office’s background audio in your own home.

New website ‘I Miss the Office’ lets work-from-homers pipe a wide-range of familiar sounds from a typical open-plan working environment. The aim is to help recrate a more ‘normal’ audio atmosphere at home.

Sounds to choose from include background noise, whistling, fans, phones that ring and chairs that squeak – all of which are thrown together to help boost concentration from those who are not used to the relative silence of working alone.

You can dial up the ambient noise to up to ten people, and add or subtract various audio effects until you’ve got it exactly right.
