The new iPad Pro wants to make productivity portable

Apple has announced a new iPad Pro, which combines an all-new camera sensor and keyboard cover that has its very own trackpad.

The new iPad pro comes in either 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes, and look pretty much the same as last year’s models – however there is a nrew processor and camera system.

The standout feature in the camera department is that Apple has added in a LIDAR scanner along with a new wideangle sensor which makes it fantastic for not just depth sensing, but augmented reality.

Under the hood you get a new A12Z Bionic Chip., with eight cores and a new GPU. Apple wasn’t shy about taking the fight to Microsoft, either. It described the new Pro as “more powerful than most Windows PC Laptops”.

The battery life is around 10-hours, and the Pro supports LTE (but not 5G).

The new iPad Pro comes in either silver or gray, with 128GB, 256GB, 512GB or 1TB.

However, it is Apple’s new keyboard cover that might have stolen the show. The cover will unfold and elevate the ipad, making it more comfortable for people who use it as creation device. It also has a trackpad.

“Rather than copying the experience from macOS, trackpad support has been completely reimagined for iPad.As user,” said Apple in a statement.

“As move their finger across the trackpad, the pointer elegantly transforms to highlight user interface elements.”

Apple calls it the Magic Keyboard. It is backlit, and supports USB-C passthrough charging. Unfortuantely, it won’t be available until May (but it will be compatible with last year’s iPad Pro).

The price? The 11-inch Magic Keyboard costs US$300, while the 12.9-inch version comes in at US$349.
