Oppo has made a tech world first: a vegan smartphone.
The Oppo has lovingly wrapped its new flagship Find X2 Pro in orange vegan leather, which looks rather nice and solves a problem that not even vegans knew they had.
For those unaware, vegans shun any and all animal products: steaks and sausages are out, but so is leather.
Which makes finding a case for a vegan’s smartphones bit of a chore (apparently? Is it really?).
Fortunately, Oppo’s Find X2 solves that very specific problem as it comes in either black ceramic or orange-and-gold vegan leather.

Elsewhere, the phone comes with a notch-less display (courtesy of a little periscope front-facing camera) as well as three cameras on the back (regular, wide-angle and telephoto with 10x lossless zoom).
The big story here – apart from the fact that it receives a vegan stamp of approval – is the fact that it has a 6.7-inch 3168 x 1440 OLED display, with curved edges and a 120Hz refresh rate. That puts it up there with the likes of Samsung’s new S20 line.
Why do refresh rates matter? In short, a faster screen is a better-looking screen.
The new Find X2 Pro is due to hit your local tech store sometime mid-April for around AED4,500. Yes, it’s a tad expensive – but can you really put a price on saving the world one animal product at a time?
No. You can’t.
