Microsoft has announced it will be overhauling all its smartphone apps so that users can be as productive on smartphones as they are on the PC.
The tech company announced its plans via a blog post, saying that Outlook, OneDrive, Word, Excel and PowerPoint have all been redesigned.
The new suite of apps are due to be rolled out ‘soon’.
Smartphones are increasingly being used by professionals, but still, lack behind traditional PCs and laptops when it comes to content creation. To address this, Microsoft has redesigned its suite of Office apps to “take mobile productivity to the next level”.
The biggest change includes the adoption of Microsoft’s ‘Fluent’ design philosophy, that “ensures experiences will feel both distinctly Microsoft and at home on mobile devices.” In English, that means the Big M is making sure all its apps look and work the same.
In the post, Microsoft also admitted that it is working on dual-screen services (potentially confirming the much-rumoured Surface Duo tablet/smartphone hybrid).
