Elon Musk had a bit of a situation on his hands at the launch of his new Tesla Cybertruck after his “armour glass” windows shattered.
“You want a truck that’s really tough, not fake tough,” Musk said at the launch. “You want a truck you can take a sledgehammer to, a truck that won’t scratch, doesn’t dent.”
About one minute into the video, Musk asks someone to try and break the Cybertruck’s glass with a large steel ball. And then the unimaginable happened for poor old Musk. The ball actually caused the glass to crack. Twice.
And in Musk’s words: “Oh my [bleeping] God”
Almost immediately, Musk’s net worth dropped a staggering $768 million in a single day and Tesla stock fell 6% jsut hours after the launch.
But what should have been a nail in the coffin for the truck, wasn’t one at all. Musk tweeted there were orders for 146,000 Cybertrucks, adding ilater that the interest in the vehicle came without any advertising and no paid endorsements.
146k Cybertruck orders so far, with 42% choosing dual, 41% tri & 17% single motor
