Bigger, better and more realistic than ever

The largest video game expo in the world has just kicked off in Cologne, Germany with publishers showcasing their latest game trailers to excited masses in attendance.

Exciting is just an understatement as we wait for the releases of these games.

Here’s our choice of the best game trailers from this year’s Gamescom

1. Battlefield I- In the name of Tsar

Release date: September 2017

EA have announced a new competitive game mode and a new map for this year’s release. The game is much tighter and team-play focused. The addition of new weapons and kits to a 5 v 5 mode got us more excited than ever.

2. Star Wars Battlefront II

Release date: November 17, 2017

We’ve been excited for this one for quite a while now, and the latest trailer doesn’t help us calm down in any way possible.

EA have brought us the second instalment of the Star-wars themed Battlefront. You now have a choice of participating in space battles or riding solo in a robust single-player story mode. From the flaming Mustafar to the slippery surfaces of Kamino, swing your light sabers across different iconic locations from the star-wars series.

3. FIFA 18

Release date: September 29, 2017

More realistic than ever, the most popular football game comes back this September. With an energetic theme, EA brings us the fastest paced and most visually improved FIFA game till date. New game modes, celebrations and gameplay got us sitting on the edge of our seats in anxiety.

4. Need For Speed: Payback 

Release date: November 11, 2017

For all us car-ismatics out there, there’s one game we are looking forward to. The good news is, it looks like the game is going to be all that we needed it to be, full of high-stakes and road-based fun while keeping its style and chaos in place; bad news is we’ll have to wait a little longer.

NFS Payback will take you through a crew building exercise as Tyler Morgan, before taking part in explosive races.

5. Assassin’s Creed Origins

Release date: October 27,2017

It’s been a while since Assassin’s Creed brought us a new game, and it’s finally here. Running in 4K for the first time, the game will take us through Ancient Egypt. With figures such as Cleopatra, Julius Caesar and Pharaoh, the game got us History nerds giddy in excitement.

6. Call of Duty WWII

Release date: November 3,2017

Back with a world war 2 themed ‘brutal and intimate’ campaign and zombie modes, this release of COD has us all anticipated. Choice of taking part in a French allied campaign or even impersonating a Nazi makes this edition the most realistic till day.

7. The Crew 2

Release date: TBA

The Crew is back for its second instalment, after the success of its first ever release in 2014. This time bigger than ever with the inclusion of planes, boats and off-road vehicles while having the option to switch between them at any point in time.

8. Middle-Earth: Shadow of war   

Release date: October 10, 2017

Expanding on to the Shadow of Mordor sequel, this year’s release will feature a number of big enhancements. With a more personalized experience, you can continue fighting and recruiting more violet-looking creatures than ever.

9. Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition 

Release date: TBA

Finally coming to PC, nearly a year after its debut, Final Fantasy XV is here for desktop-users, with a number of technical improvements, more details and huge in-game effects.

10. Sims 4: Cats & Dogs

Release date: November 10, 2017 

The successful Sims 4 series is getting yet another expansion. With a new add-on of pets, this year’s release is going to be the most exciting yet. Customize and breed your new best friend in a new veterinarian career path.

11. Overwatch Junkertown

Release date: TBA

Gamers were treated to a new game that has been expanding ever since its release last year. Overwatch is getting bigger this year with the release of a new map. A post-apocalyptic town called “Junkertown,” is where you’ll be protecting your cash and explosives. 

12. Age of Empires IV


Release date: TBA

It’s been long time coming, a decade after the release of Age of Empires III, Microsoft have finally revealed Age of Empires IV.

Not many details have been revealed for the real-time strategic game yet, makes it just a little bit more enticing to go grab the game.

13. Jurassic World

Release date: Summer 2018

Back in 2015, Jurassic World was taking the world by storm, and in 2018, the game will be back for a spin-off.
