It looks like Sony might be set to lift the lid on the PlayStation 5 Pro sooner than expected. According to gaming insiders, the next-gen console’s grand reveal is expected within weeks, potentially in the first half of September 2024.
Dealabs’ writer Billbil-kun, known for dropping solid PlayStation scoops, is once again the source spilling the gaming beans on what’s coming our way.
Spoiler alert: it sports the familiar white exterior of its predecessors but with a few tweaks. Think two extra USB-C ports at the front and a slightly beefier build than the PS5 Slim, along with the signature DualSense controller. Riding on the supposed specs, we’re talking a heftier GPU, a slicker CPU, and a bump in system memory.
It’s the kind of spec list that’ll get any gamer’s heart racing, and if these rumors pan out, the PS5 Pro’s release timeline closely mirrors the PS4 Pro’s launch back in the day.
History shows that Sony likes throwing in a mid-generation refresh, so there’s precedent for dropping a Pro version, though it remains to be seen if it can match past successes. The PS5 hasn’t seen any price cuts so far, unlike the PS4 which had its price slashed a year before the Pro came out.

However, if Sony has shown us anything, it’s that it’s not afraid to splash the cash on risky ventures. Their PlayStation lineup so far this year isn’t just about safe bets. The PlayStation Portal was a surprise hit, whereas the shiny new PlayStation VR2 stumbled out of the gate.
