Hot on the heels of a whirlwind CES 2024, the South Korean tech titan Samsung is not hitting the brakes.
Today, it announced a game-changing addition to its smartphone lineup – the Galaxy S24 series. The series, featuring the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24+, and the Galaxy S24, is being heralded as the dawn of “a new era of how smartphones work,” says Samsung. Let’s see just how true that is…
At the heart of these flagship devices is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, a chip custom-tailored for Samsung and touted as the most formidable mobile phone processor on the market.
Samsung has given the new series with a sleek aesthetic overhaul. The curved screens of the S23 series have given way to flatter displays, now bordered by slimmer bezels to maximize viewing space.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra, in a move to match Apple’s material standards, boasts a titanium body – a first for Samsung. Adding to this, a partnership with Corning has birthed Gorilla Armor for the Ultra model, offering unprecedented durability without compromising clarity.
AI is front and center in the Galaxy S24 series, fittingly dubbed ‘Galaxy AI’. This includes real-time translation capabilities, Google-powered ‘Circle to Search’ feature, and cutting-edge generative editing for photos and videos, previously limited to desktop applications.
The camera systems have received significant upgrades across all models. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, in particular, features a Quad Tele System with a 50MP sensor, offering crystal clear images up to 10x magnification and a staggering 100x enhanced digital zoom. The new sensor, with pixels 60% larger than its predecessor, promises superior performance in low-light conditions.
Mobile gamers and power users are in for a treat. The Galaxy S24 series supports adaptive refresh rates (1-120 Hz), ensuring fluid gameplay. The S24 Ultra’s expanded vapor chamber ensures sustained performance during prolonged use. All models boast a peak brightness of 2,600nits, making them versatile for outdoor use.
Launching on January 31 with pre-orders starting today, the Galaxy S24 Series offers a range of models to suit various needs and budgets.
The base Galaxy S24 model starts at $975 USD / 3635 AED, with the top-tier Galaxy S24 Ultra model available up to 1TB for $1890 USD / 7048 AED. Each model will be available in seven striking colors.
