Samsung has pulled back the curtains on its much-anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 5, announcing a refined design, an impressively brighter internal screen, and internals borrowed from the Galaxy S23 series.

For those eager to experience the new tech, the wait won’t be long – the device hits stores this August.

Crafted with a state-of-the-art waterdrop-style hinge made from lightweight aluminum, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 not only looks sleek but also eliminates the pesky display gap of its predecessors. It’s slimmer, lighter and continues to offer water resistance, ticking all the right boxes in terms of aesthetics and durability.

The device flaunts a 6.2-inch AMOLED external display with a resolution of 2316×904 and a 120Hz refresh rate, shielded by the sturdy Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. This ensures increased scratch and scrape resistance, securing your phone from everyday wear and tear.

But what truly sets the Z Fold 5 apart is its stunning 7.6-inch internal flexible AMOLED panel. With a resolution of 2176×1812, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and brightness levels reaching up to a dazzling 1750 nits, it promises the same visual experience of Samsung’s Galaxy S23 phones (but with a much, much, bigger display).

The phone also supports the Samsung S Pen Fold Edition, a digital stylus that’s now certified as IP68 dust and water-resistant, too.

Under the hood, the device houses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, backed by 12GB of RAM and up to a whopping 1TB of storage. The 4400mAh battery capacity remains unchanged, but the company promises improvements in efficiency for extended use times thanks to its more efficient processor.

On the software front, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 runs on Android 13 with Samsung’s latest OneUI interface. It features an always-visible taskbar and improved multitasking capabilities.

As for camera setup, it doesn’t disappoint. It boasts a trio of rear cameras, a 10MP punch-hole webcam on the cover screen, and a 4MP under-display camera. The wide-angle and telephoto lenses are equipped with optical image stabilization, wich should deliver crystal clear when you’re running about.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is now up for pre-order in Icy Blue, Phantom Black, and Cream. Devices are expected to start shipping from August 11th.
