Leica Ultravid HD Plus: Edition Zagato
At Esquire, we love a good collaboration. In fact, we are even more fond of a collaboration when it includes a German and Italian company at the top of their industries, as in the case of the Leica Ultravid HD Plus: Edition Zagato.
The teaming up of the luxury camera brand and a Milanese coach-building giant may not at first have seemed like an obvious joint endeavour, but the more we look at the slick and stylish pair of limited-edition binoculars, the more brilliant it seems.
While we can’t claim to carry around a pair of binoculars with us on a daily basis, we might just be tempted to thanks to the lure of the limited-edition Leica Ultravid: Edition Zagato.
Bringing together exemplary technical finesse and style, the Zagato input is clear to see, swapping the classic leather and matte paint covering for a cool, blanc-coloured aluminium outer shell, with hundreds of fine grooves milled into the surface. Limited to merely 1,000 pieces, the Leica stamp of approval pretty much guarantees the quality of the lenses, with a combination of twist-up-twist-down eye cups, locking dioptre and large focusing wheel allows for smoother, sharper focus.
Guaranteed to last a lifetime (and you should hope so for a wallet-smacking $3,800!), this premium set of binocs is as much a statement maker through its optical performance and build-quality, as it is from its style stakes.
