The smartwatch has bullied the classic wristwatch into obsolescence at this point (Apple currently outsells Rolex a hundred to one) which makes Samsung’s Smart Ring a bit of a game-changer.
In a world dominated by bulky smartwatches and fitness bands, the Galaxy Ring is a sigh of relief for your overburdened wrists. Dubbed the Galaxy Ring, this little piece of tech wizardry is Samsung’s answer to a market that’s been crying out for sleeker, more discrete health tracking tech.

At its core, the Galaxy Ring does what any self-respecting health-tracking device should: monitor your sleep, stress levels, heart rate, and an array of other vital health metrics. Almost more importantly, it frees your wrist for what it was always meant to wear—a proper watch.
This is Samsung’s first foray into the smart ring arena, and a move against competitors like Oura. If the rumours are true, Apple isn’t far behind and rumoured to be releasing its own finger-tracking wearable next year.
According to Hon Pak, the vice president of Samsung Electronics’ Digital Health Team, the Galaxy Ring was conceived with sleep tracking at its heart. It will also give you a holistic view of your health with a new Vitality Score feature, calculated based on your mental and physical readiness.

The Samsung Smart Ring is slated to come in three typical ring finishes – black, gold, and silver. Though exact pricing details remain under wraps, Samsung says we won’t be left in the dark for that long, with more information expected to drop in the coming two months.
So watch this space, because the future of fitness tracking just got a whole lot more interesting.
