Huawei isn’t just testing the waters with its new Huawei Watch Ultimate – it’s diving headfirst into the luxury smartwatch ocean.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate challenges traditional timepieces with a more wrist-friendly design, innovative materials, and, perhaps most impressively, its deep-sea diving abilities.

This wrist-able bit of tech is crafted from a zirconium-based liquid metal, more commonly found in the posh manufactures of Hublot or Zenith. Four-and-a-half times tougher than titanium and invincible to corrosion, this smartwatch won’t wither under the sun or the salty sea.

The 1.5-inch AMOLED screen, protected by sapphire glass, employs clever LTPO technology to curb power consumption while maintaining a sunny 1000-nit brightness. Offered in Expedition Black (rubber strap) and Voyage Blue (titanium band), each model includes an extra rubber strap designed to fit over your wet suit.

As if the fancy materials weren’t enough, the Watch Ultimate scoffs at the Apple Watch Ultra’s depth rating (40 meters), plunging to a daring 100 meters underwater. It will also take notes on every dive detail, which can be displayed on a custom watch face mid-dive.

A dedicated button will take wearers to “Expedition mode,” which uses dual-band GPS to navigate your adventures in the wilderness. There are also over 100 sports-supported, along with the likes of sleep tracking, heart rate and ECG monitoring, arterial stiffness information, and SpO2 tracking. And, despite all these features, the battery lasts two weeks before requiring a swift 60-minute recharge.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate makes a splash on May 5th in the UAE, with prices of AED3,000 for Voyage Blue and AED2,600 for Expedition Black.
