The MateView GT 27 is a pleasing addition to Huawei’s budding monitor business. It follows the success of the 34-inch MateView GT; which drew much attention from the world of gaming (thanks to its high refresh rate, great colour reproduction, and curvy screen).

This slightly smaller addition continues to champion everything that made its big brother such a hit; including the 165Hz refresh rate and 1440p curved panel, at a slightly smaller 27-inches.

MateView GT 27: good for gamers

Gamers require a few qualities from their monitors, to ensure they keep fragging effectively. Chief among them is refresh rate (which makes gameplay sultry smooth). At a native 165Hz, the MateView GT 27 does just that. It also packs Nvidia G-Sync support under the hood, meaning your games should be stutter-free.

Elsewhere you get a dedicated HDR mode, that supports HDR10 encoding. Round the back, you get a DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2 socket (sadly, the USB-C port from the screen’s larger cousin did not make it here).

You also don’t get a 3.5mm headset jack – which is a tad disappointing given there are no built-in speakers.

MateView GT 27: desktop designs

The MateView GT 27, like the MateView GT is very clean looking. The panel is thin, the bezels are small and the matte black finish looks sleek in a world awash with gawdy LED-spewing gaming monitors.

Throw in excellent colour reproduction, and this is equally suited to some casual PhotoShop work as it is zome FarCry.

The best part, however, is the price. While many curved monitors will stretch your budget, the MateView GT 27 comes in at AED1,500. That makes it a solid upgrade to your standard gaming monitor, or for anyway that wants a top-notch display.
