Playing it cool

Although it sounds like a collaboration that was put together by randomly picking out two brand from a tombola machine, there is something seriously awesome about the limited edition Smeg fridges designed in collaboration with Dolce&Gabbana.

The famed Italian fashion house has lent its Sicilian flavour to hipster kitchenwear brand to produce some of the coolest looking fridges you’ll ever see.

The range, titles FAB28, is out this month, with each model featuring artwork by Sicilan artists, as picked by D&G. Distinctive elements of the region’s history – including lemons, the trinacria symbol, cartwheels, medievak knights and battle scenes – are incorporated into the collection, alongside important aesthetic representative of designers Dominico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.

Due to the nature of the work, each fridge took approximately 240 hours to complete, and are super-limited edition. Expect them to fetch a whopping Dhs125,000 in price, so while you might have the coolest fridge around, you might not be able to afford any food to put in it.
