The Porsche Taycan launched with a bang (inaudible, of course) back in 2019. And what a car it was! With it, Porsche entered the electric scene with a model that set a new benchmark for EVs; performance, style and a level of new-gen engineering that exceeded expectations.

Amid all the city superminis and SUVs announced, it was an electric car that gave us all hope for what the EV era would bring. Now, less than 18 months on, the Taycan range has been expanded to the Cross Turismo.

“I’ve been closely involved with the development of the Taycan, offering my feedback as a professional racing driver on its performance, driving dynamics, and overall feel of the car on the road. It’s been amazing to be part of this process. With its cutting-edge design and revolutionary technology, the Taycan is one of the finest premium EV sports saloon available on the market today,” says racing driver Mark Webber.

The “flyline” trunk shape is familiar from the Panamera Sport Turismo and the added space means 47mm more headroom in the back and a very handy 1,200 litres of boot space. Design-wise, the Taycan’s panelling is more pronounced on this version, while additional off-road detailing like wheel arch trims, front and rear lower aprons and side sills accentuate a more rugged, practical and battle-hardened look and feel.

“I think it’s fair to say that the Taycan Cross Turismo represents an evolution in what this platform is capable of and a revolution in the industry as the first electric cross-utility vehicle. It looks, feels and drives like a true sports car on road and offers you the freedom to enjoy the outdoors on light off-road terrain,” adds Webber.

The Taycan offers 20mm of extra ground clearance for off-roading your way to the beach, the Taycan’s all-wheel drive and adaptive air suspension come as standard too for extra control, and the “gravel” mode setting adapts the chassis, traction and throttle settings should the dust really start to fly. The Middle East will see three variations to choose from, starting with the entry-level Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, all the way up to the speedy Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo.

“The balance and weight distribution are superb, and it is a whole lot of fun to drive. Only now you have that increased versatility with an enlarged rear luggage compartment and even more spacious interior,” adds Webber.

“This car is the perfect solution for someone who wants a sustainable EV with sports car performance, but also enjoys an active, outdoor lifestyle. The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo delivers on all fronts.”
