Introducing the the Maserati Levante

Maserati’s new SUV, the Maserati Levante, is finally here and it’s arrived with style at the Geneva Motor Show. Wait, what? Maserati have launched an SUV? Wow.

For the first time in the brand’s 100+ year history, it has entered into the SUV category – hailing a drastic new direction for the Italian luxury car manufacturer. Although, it has been expected for a while, the Levante will now complete the brand’s line up of sedan and sports cars.

The first immediate impression is a strong reference to the brands signature designs from its sports car with complete Italian character. It’s aggressive and bold. The three iconic air vents on the front fenders with new, tapered headlights separated into two units. The rear features a slanted back window and isn’t very different from the Porsche Cayenne.

From a technical point, the first reports are that the Levante performs rather well on-road and on very low-grip surfaces which should grant it superb off-road capabilities. With sophisticated suspensions, air springs, 8-speed automatic transmission specially calibrated for the SUV and more Maserati is breaking into the market strong. As for what’s under the hood, there is no word apart from there will be the option of a petrol or diesel engine.

It’ll only be a little while longer before people can actually get their hands on the car. With the first cars already off the assembly line in preparation for the market launch in Europe this spring, followed by the rest of the world.
