Tesla has already provided the world with its self driving car, and now Elon Musk is honing on one of his many future projects, this one in particular being the Tesla Robotaxi. But, although initially hopeful with a launch this summer, Tesla has announced the delay by about two months, pushing it to October, as the design team is reworking certain elements of the car and its ability to be a self driving, robotic taxi service.
Although first announcing the idea of a robotaxi two years ago, the announcement of the official robotaxi release was given on August 8 by Musk himself, but was thereby postponed as further development was required on the affordable, much smaller vehicle. There appears to be a lot of empty and delayed promises coming from Musk, one person who was not impressed by yet another postponement being an American university professor and expert in autonomous vehicle law, Bryant Walker Smith, who stated, “Tesla has been…promising ‘next year, next year,’ [for nearly a decade]. And I’ve seen no indication that Tesla is on track for a meaninful deployment of the king of automated driving system that Tesla has consistently promised.”
But will the robotaxi come to Dubai? Well, as Dubai only recently acquired its first set of cyber trucks, one can imagine that, given the popularity in the region, robotaxis would presumably arrive soon after its global release, wherever they should be rolled out first. It was noted that Musk flew to Beijing not too long ago to discuss future plans of the robotaxi, so if China is high on the list, given their economic influence, the Middle East would presumably be high on the list.
Aside from a tentative announcement date, Musk has revealed no further information about the robotaxi.
