Rolls-Royce has unveiled its new Ghost model yesterday, complete with a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 engine and branded umbrella. It will cost US$318,000.
The completely redesigned model comes with a smoother, more subdued style that is complemented by a brand new suspension system for an even smoother ride.
So smooth in fact, that Rolls-Royce engineers say the new Ghost will, “create a sense of flight on land never before achieved by a motor car.”
According to RR, the new version was designed with help from previous Ghost buyers, who wanted something a little less ostentatious, and more minimalist. The company refers to this as, ‘Post Opulence’.

You can certainly see that with the new car’s exterior, which is bright white and is more rounded than previous models.
The big engine under the hood remains almost unchanged. You still get 563-horsepower to all four wheels.

However, the new Ghost was launched with a warning from Rolls-Royce Managing Director Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes who said that the coronavirus would impact the automotive market for several years.
Like the rest of the car market, luxury brands have suffered during the pandemic and Rolls-Royce is no exception. In the first half of this year, Rolls-Royce sales fell by 30 per cent (although, he did say that 2019 was a bumper year).
