The new line is better-specced and aggressive as heck

BMW has updated its 4 Series coupe to better differentiate the car from the 3 Series and its two-door coupe sibling. It will be the first motor to come with BMW’s new M Sport Pro package.

The German automaker revealed the new 4 Series Coupe with a bold new styling. According to BMW’s design chief the new car is “everything BMW should stand for”.

The new car is based on the same platform as the new 3 Series. But, BMW has substantially overhailed the design of the coupe. It now features a sleek side profile, full-LED lights front and rear and its large front grille – which stretches beyond the license plate.

The new styling is meant to make the car look more aggressive and differentiate it from the 3 Series sedan.

Under the hood there are three petrol engines and one diesel to choose from. The top-specced model – the M440i xDrive produces 374 horsepower from its hybrid 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo petrol engine.

BMW spent a lot of time improving the driving dynamics this time around. The new 4 Series has a lower centre of gravity and a 50-50 weight distribution. There are also new air flaps under the car that should make taking corners that much easier.

BMW has not said when the new 4 Series will arrive in the region, but we’d expect wheels to hit the road towards the end of this year.
