While the new Jeep Gladiator pick-up truck stole the show at the Super Bowl – in a commercial poking fun at Bill Murray and his film Groundhog Day – there was also another new produce: a Jeep-branded electric bike.
You can see the bike quickly in a cut-away involving Bill Murray and his new friend – the groundhog – having the time of their lives. The quick shot seems to tease of the new e-Bike, an off-road mountain bike with built-in motor.
Jeep quietly put up a page online that revealed a few more details of its first-ever two-wheeler, which was produced in partnership with electric bike-maker QuietKat.
Riders will get up to 40 miles on a single charge thanks to its 750-watt motor. The bike has 4.8-inch tires, designed to go over any terrain, and a suspension with “tractive capability” – the same suspension used in the automaker’s off-road vehicles.
Interested customers can head to the Jeep e-Bike page and register their interest in the product. But it’s not yet known when the bike will ship (although, rumours that it will officially go on sale in June).
