Hours before the Frankfurt Motor Show kicked off yesterday, Volkswagen announced that it was entering a new era for the company.
To mark the launch of ‘New Volkswagen’, VW unveiled a brand new logo and the goal to transition 100 per cent into electric and connected cars.
According to the company, “Volkswagen’s future is electric, fully connected and has a neutral carbon balance”.
To mark the occasion, the company pulled the wraps off its all-electric ID.3 and that new logo.
The logo itself is now two-dimensional and has been reduced to nothing but lines. The purpose behind the re-jigged logo is flexibility, which makes it easier to be seen on digital applications.
The new VW approach to electric will not only be felt in how future vehicles are designed, but also in its contracts with customers. Volkswagen has said the new electric ethos will be felt “in the brand presentation as a whole”.
By the middle of next year, VW says the transition to this new design will be complete.
