The notion of owning a 1,000-horsepower engine is no longer reserved for multi-million Bugatti owners anymore. Hennessey has started selling an upgraded Shelby Mustang witha ridiculous 1,200 BHP under the hood.
The stock 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is already the most powerful Mustang that Ford has ever graced petrol-heads with, rocking a supercharged 5.2 litre V8 engine. But the Texas-based tuning and body-kit company Hennessey wants more and wants to give its clients more.
The company has worked to create the ‘Venom 850’, ‘Venom 1,000’ and ‘Venom 1,200’ with each number representing the brake horsepower number.
The 850 model features an updated interior, a new supercharger, long tube headers, and a new induction system. The 1,000 slaps onto the car a 3.0 litre supercharger which gives it its super power.
The 1,200 version includes: a twin turbo system, an upgraded intercooler system, fuel system upgrade, steel exhausts, upgraded pistons, transmission upgrade, high-flow air induction system, and various cosmetic changes to the interior and exterior.
No official pricing has been released by Hennessey at the time of writing. The cost of the base GT500 is said to be around U.S. $70,000.
Hennessey has long since taken already crazy cars and made them crazier. Its other projects include a 600 HP, six-wheeled Ford VelociRaptor, a 1,000 HP McLaren 720 and even a 600 HP Lincoln Navigator.
