Lamborghini’s fastest open-top supercar

Lamborghini unveiled the new Aventador S Roadster earlier today, at the IAA 2017 in Frankfurt at Germany’s international motor show. The new Aventador pairs all the technologies, driving dynamics and ferocious speed of the original Aventador with an ’emotive driving experience’ (that’s Lamborghini speak for: “the top comes off”).

The new Aventador S has the same design as the original: an engine bridge that runs from the back, a rear mix of body colour, and matte black painted carbon fibre engine with twin blades. However, with the top of it sports different lines, providing the car with its own aerodynamic character.

The roof is made up of sleek, hardtop panels – weighing less than six kilogrammes. A secure fastening system allows the roof panels to be quickly removed and stored in the front truck (however, there is no automatic function to do this – the driver must stop the car and get out – if/and when – it rains).

The new ‘S’ suffix denotes the new technology inside the roadster. It packs four-wheel drive, a new active suspension system, new four-wheel steering system and a new ‘ego’ driving mode. According to Lamborghini, the new model will go from zero to 100kph in just 3.0 seconds, with a top speed of 350kph.
