Oppo’s Find X7 Ultra is a photographic powerhouse, rocking a quad main camera setup that not only surpasses its rivals, but redefines the meaning of the word ‘zoom’.
The key to that photo prowess is a twin periscope zoom lens system (which in non-tech speak means it eliminates any magnification blind spots, meaning no detail – no matter how miniature – will escape its gaze). Add to that a one-inch wide-angle sensor (huge for a smartphone), a new image processor, and the magic touch of Hasselblad’s colour technology, and you’ve got one heck of a camera phone.
Powered by the latest Qualcomm chipset and boasting a pixel-perfect AMOLED screen, the Find X7 Ultra doesn’t just take photos. Which is a good thing considering it’s on the higher end of smartphone pricing: USR980 for the 16GB and 512GB storage variant.

Fortunately, that high price pays off in the design department. With its unique blend of opaque glass, polished metal, and vegan leather, it certainly stands out in a sea of monotonous smartphone designs. The large camera bump, rather than being an eyesore, is a bit of a statement piece (not to mention, makes it easier to hold on to). It’s available in Sepia Brown, Ocean Blue, and Tailored Black.
The Find X7 Ultra’s 6.82-inch AMOLED display is nothing short of spectacular, give your peepers a visual feast thanks to its 3168×1440 QHD+ resolution and LTPO adaptive refresh technology. Peaking at an astonishing 4500 nits for HDR content or use in the fierce UAE sun, it also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

Photography aficionados will be absolutely floored by the quad 50MP camera setup. The wide-angle camera with a 1-inch Sony sensor, and an ultrawide Sony sensor, all fine-tuned with Oppo’s HyperTone Image Engine and Hasselblad’s expertise, sets a new standard in smartphone photography.
Those twin periscope zoom lenses are a real game-changer, offering a 14-135mm equivalent focal length that captures stunning clarity and detail (even at 30x magnification). That means you can get both up-close and very far away from your subject, making it a formidable tool for photographers.

However, it’s not all smooth sailing. The Find X7 Ultra’s software experience is a tad clunky. It does better than some others we may name (here’s looking at you, Huawei) but Oppo’s ColorOS doesn’t make getting around the latest Android 14 as easy as it could be.
Despite these hurdles, the phone’s performance, powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and its 5000mAh battery life (easily capable of enduring a day’s use with room to spare) is simply immense.
Verdict:
The Oppo Find X7 Ultra really stretches what’s possible when it comes to smartphone photography. The screen is fantastic, it has power for days, and you’re not going to see any internal slow-down no matter how many apps you throw at it.
We wish the OS was a tad smoother to use, but if you’re looking for what might just be the smartphone camera of the year you won’t be dissapointed.
