Apple has just rolled out the latest iPhone 16 Pro series, and it’s packing quite a punch.

First off, the screen sizes have seen a boost – we’re looking at 6.3 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max, slightly up from the 15 series. Apple is also touting the “thinnest borders ever” on an iPhone, with titanium bodies in four colors: black, white, natural, and a new “desert titanium.”

The real star of the show is the new A18 Pro chip however, sporting a 16-core neural engine. This upgrade promises to enhance Apple Intelligence features and deliver 15% faster performance than its predecessor, the A17 Pro. Not just a slight nudge up, it seems like a significant leap, especially with the six-core GPU that’s 20% faster.

On the camera front, the iPhone 16 Pro continues to shine with a 48MP Fusion camera, a new 48MP ultrawide, and a 12MP 5x telephoto camera. This year also sees the tetraprism design from last year’s Pro Max makes it onto the regular Pro model. There’s also a new Camera Control button, giving users more options right at their fingertips. The phones can capture 4K video at 120fps, and you can adjust the playback speed in the Photos app. Handy.

The audio experience has also received a hearty bump. There are now four “studio quality” mics and the capability to record spatial audio. Oh, and Voice Memos will soon let you layer tracks over recordings – a nifty feature for budding musicians or anyone juggling multiple audio tasks.

Battery life? Apple claims it’s taken a massive leap. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is supposedly the marathon runner of batteries, offering up to 33 hours of video playback. The iPhone 16 Pro isn’t far behind, clocking in up to 27 hours. Both models support MagSafe charging with speeds up to 25W and are Qi2-certified.

As for the wallet impact, the iPhone 16 Pro starts at AED4,300 for 128GB of storage. If you need more space, the Pro Max begins at AED5,100 for 256GB. Preorders in some regions have already kicked off, but devices on Middle East stores will be available to pre-order on September 13, with devices in stores on September 20.

Apple’s launch aligns with its ambitious thrust into AI, building on its Apple Intelligence features designed to make life easier. Expect to see some of these AI tools trickling into your phone via software update by October, with a beta phase well underway. From a revamped Siri to OpenAI’s ChatGPT goodies, Apple is clearly gunning for an AI-enhanced future.
