Mercedes’ expanded S-Class (where the ‘s’ stand for: “sign us up”)

There’s are few better ways to chew up miles on long open roads than in a large two-door Mercedes-Benz.

It is less showy (and cheaper) than its Bentley and Rolls-Royce counterparts, and more practical than a Porsche 911. It’s essentially, a way of telling others that you’ve done well for yourself, but you’re not the kind of guy who needs to rub it in that much.

Big car marques know that choices are the luxury in the automotive world, and therefore the new twin Mercedes-Benz S-Class model comes with two design options: one Coupé, one Cabriolet.

The 2018 model update follows the debut of the recently remodelled S-Class flagship sedan, and feature new engines and enhanced performance figures:
the S560 trim comes with a 463-horsepower, 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8.

The enhanced design exudes greater sportiness with both the S560 Coupé and S560 Cabriolet featuring front aprons with chrome-plated front splitter and voluminous air inlets. The dynamic looks are enhanced by restyled side skirts and chrome-plated twin tailpipe trims with a V12 look. All you have to decide is whether you want the roof to come off or not.

A fresh interior look comes with three new optional trim lines and is dominated by Mercedes’ impressive Widescreen Cockpit display that you can control either by using buttons on your steering wheel or by swiping motions like you would on your smartphone.

Tech-wise both versions are packed with goodies. From a voice-controlled infotainment system, and wireless charging of your smartphone; to next-gen OLED tail lamps, and extended Intelligent Drive assistance, which allows automatic speed adjustments and active steering assistances.

For the first time in the region, Mercedes’ “me connect” function will be available (UAE only). The system allows drivers to know exactly how much fuel is in the tank, lock the doors remotely, and even find exactly where their car is in a sea of parked vehicles – keeping you closer to the car even when you’re nowhere near it. Okay, maybe you might feel the need to rub it in a little bit.

The new S-Class S560 models will be available in July 2018.
