Heritage, longevity and tradition may be major buzz words in the watch industry, but no amount of creative spin can surpass a good, truthful origin story. Evidence of this is the famed aviation-inspired watchmaker Bremont.
Founded by pilots (and brothers) Nick and Giles English, the duo decided to start the British watchmaker following a plane crash that claimed the life of their father and very nearly the life of Nick – who escaped with ‘only’ 30 broken bones.
Since Bremont launched its first collection in 2007, the company has gone on to establish itself as the front runner in British horology and consolidated the adventurous spirit of the brand via partnerships with Jaguar, Boeing, the America’s Cup, the film Kingsman and, impressively, with its ‘Wright Flyer’ collection – limited edition pieces that include a sample of muslin from the Wright brother’s original 1903 airplane.
Below, co-founder Giles English tells Esquire Middle East the tale of the brand’s origin.
