Twenty-five years ago, Sennheiser launched its Orpheus headphones at a price that, well, let’s say that a you could employ a team of miners to dig down deep into your pockets. It retailed for USD16,000, yes, you read that correctly. $16k for a pair of headphones. But if you think that is outrageous, the German audio giant is back with another bang, officially releasing the Sennheiser HE1s in the Middle East, for an eyewatering USD50,000. How good can sound get? Well, it seems pretty next level.

With the Sennheiser HE1, founders Daniel and Andreas Sennheiser have put themselves ahead of any other headphones in the world by, firstly, offering the best reproduction precision, which means the sound quality of recording will be through the roof. On top of that, the frequency response (the way to measure the output of a device in response to a stimulus) of the headphones extends far beyond actual human hearing, which supposedly means that ‘it is able to deceive senses in a completely unique way, creating the perfect illusion of being directly immersed in the sound’ said Andreas Sennheiser and with that, the most subtle differences in sound become audible, sounds crispy!
For a bit of perspective, a team of Sennheiser experts spent pretty much a DECADE working against hurdles and well, what is technically possible. The HE1’s use an innovative amplifier concept, which smoothly combines the advantages of a tube amplifier as well as transistor amplifier, basically you get the best of both worlds. Since these headphones are obviously quite special, legendary music producer of Culture Club, Steve Levine and Grammy award-winner Gregory Porter were both among the first people to be invited for an exclusive listening trial.
