You sure you couldn’t spare a few Dirhams?

While the UAE coasts are not newcomers when it comes to superyachts, we’ve had a long hard think and (rather graciously) decided that perhaps we don’t need a pimped out, 100ft boat to host our swanky soirees…we’d happily settle with something a little smaller, say, the Ferretti Yachts 450.

With us mere mortals in mind, the Italian boatbuilder will take to the Cannes Yachting Festival (Sept 6 to 11) to annouce that it has begun producing a new generation of yachts under 50ft.

The company will happily give us a glimpse as to how we should be living by showing off its new Ferretti Yachts 450, complete with open-top ‘flybridge’ and three decks that would impress the Wolf of Wall Street Jordan Belfort. The main deck features a stern swimming platform, with a lift and the lower deck has three-cabins that Ferretti said sleeps as many as six and features a full-beam master suite.

Naturally, it might still take a while before we can scrape together enough loose change to own one of these slick, sporty yachts outright, the market for more affordable crafts in the Gulf is still healthy. According to the broker Camper & Nicholsons, more than 450 motor yachts were sold last year globally, racking up a cool Dhs11 billion for the industry. Someone outthere has got a few hundred thousand to spare, right?
