The world of videogames can indeed be weird

A studio that is best-known for taking the realistic approach to videogames has just unveiled its first official trailer to Pigeon Simulator.

The game, from Bossa Studios, lets you control a furry-winged-rat as it finds food, fights other pigeons and poops on passers-by.

The studio is better known for Surgeon Simulator, and I Am Bread, two games that put realism at its core. Indeed, Surgeon Simulator was intentionally unwieldy and meant to keep gamers on their toes (just like a real surgeon needs to?).

But Pigeon Simulator is different.

The first successful animal simulator – the outlandish Goat Simulator from Coffee Stain Studio’s – was produced by happenstance. It was a developer joke that somehow garnered so much praise online that the studio ended up producing a playable version.

The first trailer here shows pigeons flying in a small flock, through a city business district, before harassing suited pedestrians with targeted bird droppings.

The montage closes with four pigeons walking away from an exploding vehicle.

The game is being helmed by Kevin Suckert, who recently developed a Battlegrounds spoof called Last Man Standing – in which white-collar workers fought to the death in their office.
