The Mass Effect trilogy will be re-mastered and released for PlayStation

The much-celebrated Mass Effect trilogy of games – previously a Microsoft and Xbox exclusive – is coming to the newly-launched PlayStation 5.

BioWare says that the original games will be re-released in 2021 (they kept quite about what would happen to the poorly-received follow up, Mass Effect Andromeda.

The developers said that the games would be give a bit of a graphic overhaul, so that the 2007-2012 trilogy can make the most of the new powerful technology of the PS5.

The original Mass Effect trilogy will also be available on the next-generation Xbox Series X and Series S consoles.

The news should not come as a surprise to Mass Effect loyals, as news of a re-release has been discussed for the past few months. However, Bioware has said that it is busy looking at what’s next for the series.

When discussing the next chapter for Mass Effect, General Manager Casey Hudson said, “We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next.”

There are no exact dates just yet, but you can look forward to some fresh Mass Effect content in 2021.
