Same powers, new hero.

Update: Insomniac Games has confirmed that the game will actually not be an expansion, enhancement or remaster and will be “standalone”.

It tweeted on Friday (June 12): “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is the next adventure in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe. We will reveal more about this standalone game at a future date. #MilesMoralesPS5.”

Original story: Spider-Man is swinging his way onto PlayStation 5 with an update to its popular venture.

Sony revealed during its Future of Gaming event on Thursday (June 11) that a much- anticipated continuation of 2018’s critically-acclaimed Spider-Man is indeed on the way.

Speaking to The Times, Simon Rutter (EVP Head of European Business at Sony Interactive Entertainment) said: “I guess you could call it an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game. There’s a substantial Miles Morales component – which is the expansion element – but also within the game as well there’s been major enhancements to the game and the game engine, obviously deploying some of the major PlayStation 5 technology and features.”
On the PS5, it won’t just be Peter Parker donning the webbed costume, though!

Instead, the first-look teaser for the new Marvel title from Insomniac Games is told through the perspective of Peter Parker’s Spider-Man successor, Miles Morales!

“A hero’s just someone who doesn’t give up. Your dad told you that. He was right,” Miles is told by Peter Parker in the new footage. “Now, it’s your turn. Go be a hero, Miles.”

Though there’s less than a minute of footage thus far, those who played the first Spider-Man game will surely be impressed with Insomniac keeping up the same web-slinging action in this new adventure.
