To celebrate ten years in the business, League of Legends maker Riot Games has announced it is expanding the franchise.
Spin-offs will include Wild Rift, a 5v5 version of the original MOBA that will be playable on consoles and mobile devices (Riot has said this won’t be a port, however. The entire game has been built from the ground up).
Legends of Runeterra, which will act as LOL’s card game. As well as Arcane, a new animated series that will follow two of its characters through their origin stories (available on Netflix.
Oh, and there’s also LoL Esports Manager – think Football Manager but based around guiding a team through the professional esports scene.
The big news came from three other spin-off games, that are a tad more secretive.
Project A is a “stylish, competitive, character-based tactical shooter” for the PC, which will combine League’s cast of characters in a near-future Earth setting.
Project L is a League of Legends fighting game, while Project F is a “very early development project that explores the possibilities of traversing the world of Runeterra with your friends.” So probably an MMORPG then.
The main League of Legends game is getting some updates, too. New character Senna joins the public servers on November 10th, and there is new Rise of the Elements tweaks as well.
