A render has been made of a leaked design

The PlayStation 5 launch is hurtling towards us at an exciting pace, formerly nothing more than a dream, we now have specs, possible announcement dates and even a glimpse at what the gaming beast might look like.

The internet is a place of speculation, millions of people coming together to share their thoughts and hopes for things around the corner. Fan-made designs of the PS5 have now perhaps been blown out of the water as a very convincing ‘leak’ has surfaced.

According to LetsGoDigital earlier this month, a patent filing from Sony hasbeen leaked. The patent shows a devkit proposal for an “unknown electronic device”.

The patent places a man named Yushuhiro Ootori as the designer, a man who had a major role in designing PS4 hardware a few years back.
A devkit is a development toolkit that allows the creation of future software and can run testing code. Think of it as a more powerful version of the commercial PS5, which has more memory and can run and test more things.

The devkit design is speculated to be the final design for the finished PS5, though this could all be false.

If not however, renderings from LetsGoDigital give us a clear visual of what the next-gen console will look like.

PS5 3

It shows a gaming rig with loads of air vents and blue lighting. It is also shaped as to look like a V, the Roman numeral for five. The host of air vents is hardly surprising considering the console is slated to have 8K resolution capacity (16x better than PS4 graphics), an 8-core AMD Ryzen processor, and an SSD for shorter loading times.

PS5 2

Sadly this hyper-futuristic design could be nothing more than a concept, but it would be awesome to have such a cool looking console sit in our living rooms or gaming rooms. The PS5 is said to be officially announced in Spring 2020.
