E.A.’s latest iteration of the street racing classic is set to be the biggest yet

Believe it or not but E.A. is creating the 23rd title to join the Need for Speed (NFS) franchise and it’s set to be the best yet.

For me personally, Need for Speed: Underground 2 stands as my favourite of the 23 (soon to be 24) games, it had amazing customisation options, realistic and unforgiving physics and a sound track that still dominates most of my Spotify to this day.

Creative Director Riley Cooper at Ghost Games, the studio responsible for the upcoming NFS game, has stated that:

Our fans have been clear that they want more cars, more customization, and more challenges, and we’re tuning up on every aspect. From your character’s style to your car’s performance and your driving style, we’re fuelling everyone’s creativity with this new game.”

More customisation then is at the top of Cooper and his team’s to do list with Need for Speed: Heat, the latest NFS game to be coming out. Along with the high-octane driving, customisation to get crazy fast cars has always been a staple of the franchise. This is something Cooper is clearly addressing in the latest iteration.

NFS: Heat will take players to the fictional land of ‘Palm City’, a new open world city where players can compete in ‘Speedhunters Showdowns’ during the day and underground races against rouge police task force cars during the night. The game is all about winning races to soup up your garage, creating a crew, and gaining as much ‘Rep’ in the street racing scene as you can. All the while, avoiding run ins with cops in equally unrealistic cars.

The premise of cop cars vs racers is one introduced in 2013 with Need for Speed Rivals, though that game lacked the expansive customisation options that Heat is promising.

Cooper explains that:

“We’re delivering more options than ever before for players to be unique and make themselves known,”

The game is slated to drop on November 8 this year for both Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

Fans who pre-order the standard edition will get a K.S Edition styled Mitsubishi Evolution X. Pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition adds three K.S Edition styled cars (BMW i8 Coupe, Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe, Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport), access to exclusive deluxe edition character clothing, and increased earnings of in-game currencies.
