With more and more luxury brands evolving into ‘lifestyle empires’, the opening of a Salvatore Ferragamo restaurant in Dubai was always on the cards. However, to assume that the new Il Borro Tuscan Bistro is merely a sub-branch of the Italian company’s fashion empire would be unkind.
Following on from the success of its namesake in Tuscany, the new Jumeirah Al Naseem-based restaurant will attempt to replicate the same characteristics, while adapting it to the UAE dining culture.

According to Ferruccio Ferragamo — the son of Salvatore — the name Il Borro comes from the family’s Tuscan estate, where the surrounding land provides it with organic fruit, vegetables and grapes. Ferragamo stresses that Il Borro will stand out for its emphasis on sustainability. The traditionally Tuscan and flavourful pappa al pomodoro (a thick and hearty tomato soup) is a must-order for anyone who visits.
